Measurements that you are about to see were performed using the Klippel Near-field Scanner (NFS). This is a robotic measurement system that analyzes the speaker all around and is able (using advanced mathematics and dual scan) to subtract room reflections (so where I measure it doesn't matter). It also measures the speaker at close distance ("near-field") which sharply reduces the impact of room noise. Both of these factors enable testing in ordinary rooms yet results that can be more accurate than an anechoic chamber. In a nutshell, the measurements show the actual sound coming out of the speaker independent of the room. The Edifier 1280DB produces decent quality sound with plenty of volumes and a decent separation of instruments within the music. The sound is neutral and natural, especially at low volumes. Unlike many other small speakers, which tend to sound boxy, you can tell that this speaker is made of quality components. In each dimension, both speakers are equal. Dimensions of R1280db are 5.75(W) x 9.5(H) x 7(D) inches, and those of R1280e are 5.75(W) x 9.5(H) x 7(D) inches. 3. Connection Types These bookshelf speakers produce excellent sound quality with plenty of headroom, which means that they are powerful enough that the audio won’t distort at higher volumes. But, what is most appealing about them is that they deliver a lot of lower mids and a good amount of high-end, producing audio that is as rich and full-bodied as it is crisp and detailed.

Honestly, to me, I really hated these at first... Like a lot. My ears are quite sensitive to treble and distortion, both of which these speakers have in spades... Even though the treble is peaky, I always felt like things were muffled, or like certain frequencies just never made it through... It's not the kind of "airy" treble that you get from something like Beyers... Beyers are nice because they do have a lot of treble peaking yes, but the way they do it is beneficial to the "detail" of the sound in my opinion. It may hurt a bit... But it's helpful, and you can appreciate it when you're in the right mood... With these speakers, I felt like the treble peaks were more painful than Beyers, yet had zero benefit to the "detail" or "air" of the music. They just straight up hurt, yet still sounded muffled... Looking at FR, I would think that may be due to the relative dip in low mids and 2-3k region in comparison to the rest. I tried playing around with EQ some time ago, but could never really get it to a point where I was satisfied with the sound. I'm definitely looking forward to trying some more EQ's now that I can see what the problem frequencies are, and hopefully it ends up making me appreciate them more for most genres. When using the R1280Ts and DBs for gaming, you'll notice that the sound field is more precise. The high sounds are crisp and clear but not high enough to be ear-piercing or pain-inducing. Even if you increase the bass to the highest, it won’t affect these speakers’ performance while maintaining the balance between treble and bass. Moreover, at moderate volume, the bass response will be powerful enough to balance the high-end frequencies. When it comes to connectivity, you’ll find that one speaker is Bluetooth and the other is not. The Edifier 1280db has Bluetooth, and the 1280t does not and that is the major difference between the two speakers. The Soundfield Spacializer does, however, make movies and TV shows a lot more cinematic. As it’s supposed to, as Edifier says, “produce a panoramic sound stage,” it isn’t surprising that it sounds better on videos than it does on music. We’d even go as far as to say that we prefer watching movies and shows with it on, as the alternative just sounds flatter. The speakers have been designed to provide convenience to the users to the maximum. If you bring this product home, you will not have to get up and use the control. You can easily lie down and relax on your couch or bed while you use the speakers. Due to the similarity of the other features of both speakers, there is not much difference in sound quality. Both speaker pairs sound fantastic and are very affordable.

R1280t and R1280DB speakers differ primarily in their connectivity and remote control designs. With R1280db you have Bluetooth, two RCA outputs, and two additional outputs, optical and coaxial. The r1280t, on the other hand, offers only two RCA inputs. It is mainly due to the speakers’ small size that lowers the bass quality but still provides smooth sound quality. Also, these speakers work well with midrange frequencies. So, if you listen to acoustic, jazz, or indie music, the R1280T is the right speaker for you. Performance Meanwhile, the MDF wood enclosure is made so that it helps curb distortions of any sort. The volume knob also has an LED indicator at its bottom, so it's easier to spot. It is an affordable set of speakers that not only save your money but also takes less space. With a size smaller than a shoebox, you can fit these speakers anywhere in your home. This is a problem because it means that Spinorama alone, unfortunately, won't give us all we need. Placement and reflections play an equally important role there too.

Inexpensive Bluetooth bookshelf speakers that pack a punch

Overall, the Edifier R1280T and R1280Ts are excellent in the high-frequency ranges. The Edifier R1280T and Ts feature a 21W RMS. Meanwhile, the Edifier R1280DB and DBs are slightly advantageous with a 42W RMS. The design and build quality of the speakers are similar, and if we compare the dimensions of the two, there is no difference in the length, depth, and height as well. Whether you are watching a movie or listening to jazz, these speakers won’t disappoint you when it comes to performance. Should you buy the Edifier R128T?

The action scenes in The Mandalorian are just as epic-sounding, though perhaps ever so slightly more compressed and distorted in the mids. The sound imaging is impressive though – you can actually hear where the blasters, stomps, and explosions are coming from. Even the movement of an elevator closing is apparent. Plus, there’s the tiniest bit of rumble when the Dark Troopers are marching in the last episode of season 2. The bass and treble knobs are more subtle than many EQ controls, which is a good thing. The drivers also offer a fairly flat response in the neutral default setting, so adding some bass will likely be a move many listeners will go for. Even with the bass knob fully turned up, the increase doesn't throw off the balance of most mixes we tested with too dramatically. You can easily boost the bass significantly and the treble only marginally and still maintain a sense of balance between the two. Appreciate me or not, appearance matters to me. Therefore whether it’s speakers or not, I do not compromise on the looks. To be very honest, the first thing that captured my attention and convinced me to try out these two speakers was the ” sleek and stylish design”. However, they appear more or less the same. If both of the speakers are placed together, you have to observe pretty keenly to find out the difference. There are some solid chances that you would not find any noticeable difference. The Edifier R1280T and R1280DB are very chic and good-looking bookshelf speakers. Each speaker has a matte top panel with grills made of removable gray cloth material. They feature wooden housing on both sides of the speaker. The colormap provides you the locations with the best (green) and worst (red) listening experience. Unlike its other competitors, these speakers have been made while keeping a retro theme. They have also been designed to make them portable and easily moveable. Due to their manageable size, you can keep them on shelves, between books, etc. There is decent bass and clear treble on both, and the EQ panel allows you to adjust both. R1280T, however, seems to be more clear at high frequencies. Both feature a 4-inch bass and 13mm silk dome tweeter. However, their frequency response seemed different.

Keep in mind that there's no real difference when placing them on the floor or an elevated surface. However, your listening experience will be different if you put them against a wall or place them in the center of a room. If the Edifier R1280DBs’ elegant design, easy setup, multiple input options, and sub output aren’t enough to convince you, its solid performance will. The Edifier R1280T and R1280DB are among the company’s best-selling bookshelf speakers. Both models have top-notch audio quality and excellent features, making them worth purchasing. The appearances of both speakers are very similar; you won’t notice much of a difference. They both look and feel similar.Onkyo Wavio: Onkyo is known mostly for their home theater speakers, but the Wavio is their entry into the small powered speaker class. We think you get more for your money with the R1280T, but you can save some cash with the Onkyos. You may have to buy new speakers that go well with your PC and are compatible with all devices. However, hundreds of companies offer thousands of options if you look into the market, making it difficult to decide. There are three notch controls on the panel: volume, bass, and treble. There are also two LED lights on the panel: red and blue. Red for the optical and coaxial, blue for Bluetooth, and green for lines 1 and line 2.
